For families wishing to capture an artistic “sleeping baby” portrait we recommend coming to a studio before they are 8 weeks old. Schedule a time when you know your baby will be both hungry and tired. It has been our experience that the best outcome is achieved with a tired baby right after they have been fed.

Bring along necessary items to help keep your baby happy and clean, including diapers, wipes, snacks and their favorite toy or blanket. |

The nude baby pose is quite popular; however, you may prefer to bring an outfit from home.
When selecting an outfit remember that lighter, solid coloured clothing works best. Try to avoid logos or busy patterns as they tend to take the focus away from your child's face.
We also provide clothing options for this tender age, ask your Event Portrait photographer for details. |

Babies are precious and unpredictable. Try to be flexible, for example if your child refuses to sleep on their front, try laying them on their back. Often the best portraits are the least posed or planned.
If things do not work out initially, do not shy away from trying again. Your child may be a more willing participant later in the day or at a future time. |

Include other family members with your baby, holding hands or rubbing noses etc. You will love what naturally evolves and appreciate the sense of scale that adding an older sibling can bring.
